Psychotic Housewife likes our Denim Jean Patches

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

We recently sent Storm, the host of Confessions of a Psychotic Housewife, a sample denim jean patch for her to review on her popular blog. She wrote a great post on shopping at thrift stores and ways to keep your clothes longer, including using our patches. She says they’re easy to use and help to save money while keeping clothes out of the landfill. Thanks, Storm!

Our jean patches covered by Green and Clean Mom

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Green and Clean Mom reviewed our jean patches today and had nothing but good things to say. She loves the fact that they are iron on so they’re easy to apply. She also is a fan of the different shades so she can get closer to matching her jeans. And she can’t deny how great it is to recycle denim instead of buying something new.

See her review on our denim jean patches, and her readers’ comments, here!

Blake is Back

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Portland denim lovers, you can rest easy. Blake, PDX’s own denim mecca, is back after a few month hiatus. And the store has moved to  a bigger, better, more airy location in the old Smith and Hawken building. I had the opportunity to stop by and check out the store’s vast selection of blue jeans and accessories at the grand re-opening party last week. The store is famous for carrying hard to find selvedge styles and importing brands such as Kicking Mule, Naked and Famous and Nudie.

Check out the denim wonderland for yourself:

Levi’s Green Jeans

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

One of the reasons people buy our denim patches for their jeans is because they don’t like the harmful environmental effects of making new jeans. The average pair of jeans uses 11 gallons of water in the finishing process. By using a denim patch for your jeans, you not only save the jeans you love and lots of money, but you also save water.

Levi’s is bucking the trend and has developed a new process that uses on average 28% less water. We support their efforts and can’t wait to make denim patches from their jeans.

5 Alternate Uses for a Denim Patch

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

digimarc.msHere at Johnny Patch we are all about reducing our carbon footprint. We are proud of our “green” product, made with recycled denim. Did you know that our patches actually have other uses than patching up your jeans?

Here are some uses you might not have thought of.

1) Dust rag – Denim is like a magnet for dust. Johnny Patch patches are conveniently palm sized, making them perfect for dusting. Use the patch to clean shelves, electronics, or my favorite, the ceiling fan. When your done, throw the patch in the wash.

2) Potholder. If you are in a pinch in the kitchen use the patches as a potholder. Denim is durable and should keep you safe from the heat.

3) Doll/Pet Pillow. At 4″x4″ Johnny Patch jean patches are the perfect size for a tiny little pillow. Simply iron 3 of the edges together, stuff with cotton balls or fabric stuffing, and iron the final side. This is an easy project you can also do with your kids!

4) Jar Opener. The patches will help you open stubborn jar tops with ease. Simply drape the fabric over the top and turn! The adhesive side of the patch will grip on to the jar making it easier to open.

5) Patch other things. Think outside the box – denim doesn’t have to just patch jeans. Use a patch on a leather jacket or even a cotton shirt with a hole.

Why pay up to $700 for designer jeans when you can create the look yourself at home? Simply take a pair of ripped black jeans and patch them up with our denim patches. They come in 3 different washes so you can mix up the look. Get creative, for a unique look that’s sure to be trendy this season.

Ruby Rose gets Denim Patch for Jeans

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Ruby Rose, the talented designer, model and TV star, is getting a Johnny Patch. On a recent Qantas flight, she was almost denied access to business class due to the holes in her jeans. Granted she designed these jeans to have holes, but maybe another design with denim patches covering the holes is in order? In the meantime, we’re going to send her a patch so she can keep riding business class as she travels the world.

Patches for sweatpants, not jeans?

patches for sweats, not jeans

Patches are everywhere now for all sorts of clothing. A cool company called Play Me Jeans has these hip sweats with big patches on the knees. They look good for yoga or hanging around the house, and we love the idea of lengthening the lifespan of clothing with a patch. There’s nothing worse than throwing things away when they’re at their most comfortable point. Patches aren’t only for jeans, but sweats now, too!
